Curriculum Offered
The Lower school (nursery, primary-5) offers a bilingual Montessori education with an English teacher in the morning and a French teacher in the afternoon. All teachers are Montessori trained. The classes are small and we use a  style of teaching where each child is in control of his own learning process.

The English curriculum studied is similar to that of other International schools. All the English teachers have a Montessori diploma and English is their mother tongue. Therefore, the children are in an environment similar to their own culture.

The Middle and Upper schools propose a bilingual program of instruction in French and English within the French national curriculum. Students can study language and literature in English (six to eight hours a week by teachers whose  mother tongue is English), as well as other languages (Spanish, Italian and Chinese).

The Lycée International Montessori can offer the following to international students:
An international education combining the French and English systems, preparing students for the IGCSE exams, the Baccalauréat, on to S.A.T and Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE, CPE).
An education with more intensive French : classes to rapidly improve their French, as well as intensive English classes, so that the most motivated students can take the IGCSE (first or second language), Cambridge and French Baccalauréat exams(with the mother tongue as an option).

In the final two years of the program, students taking the Science option benefit from classes with an emphasis on experimental science and are prepared for the Baccalauréat S. Students can take the Baccalauréat ES which has a more economic and social content.

French Language Curriculum & Support
Lower school (nursery and primary : K-5)

Learning French is accelerated by total immersion and children also benefit through contact with French speakers in the playground, group activities etc.

All Montessori materials are in French and English so that the children are not hindered in their learning. Using the materials helps the children to learn a second language, as they understand what the teacher is talking about.

During the afternoons, French is studied according to the Education Department programme but has been adapted to suit the language level.

The high standard of bilingualism at the school allows the children to follow both the French and English programmes easily.
Children are integrated according to age and level of competence.

Middle and Upper School (6-12th grade)
The school offers the international student the possibility to integrate into the French educational system whilst following a bilingual programme adapted to their abilities.

In French the student may follow an adapted programme which allows for an integration according to level and ability. The demands expected by the teachers can be adapted to the competences of the student.
The school offers a programme of extra-classes in French for those children who need it.

During the students integration period emphasis is placed on French, maths, English and social skills.
The student’s cursus is adapted to his needs

Sports Offered & Facilities
At kindergarten level sport is offered twice a week in small groups, in a specially adapted gym. At primary and secondary level, sports classes are conducted in the school gymnasium or at the sports complex beside the school. Students studying for the Baccalauréat are brought to the local swimming pool for training prior to their examinations with a qualified swimming teacher.

The Arts
The school endeavours to educate children in all fields of learning. From kindergarten level music classes take place each week and these continue on through to primary and secondary level (until the end of collège). Art classes are organised for all classes since kindergarten and the art option is available for the Brevet des collèges and Baccalauréat examinations. Dance classes are also organised and a performance is prepared for the end of the year. Two performances a year ! A Christmas concert is performed near the school. A dance exhibition at the end of the year is also near the school. Parents are of course welcomed to see these shows. Learning to sing and dance together in front of many people is an excellent way to develop the children’s self-confidence and ability to express themselves out loud.

Other activities are offered by the school throughout the year: Theatre through to English, Judo, Tennis, Hip-Hop,and Singing.

Holiday Activities
Specific activities are set up.

Technology Facilities
Technology dedicated classrooms in secondary. Computers networked and linked to internet.

What is Unique about this School
The aim of the school is to offer a comprehensive teaching program with highly qualified teachers in a welcoming and friendly environment which encourages the development of :

  • self-confidence
  • autonomy
  • respect of self and of others
  • auto discipline
  • a love of learning

All teachers employed by the school are qualified teachers recognised by Education Departments internationally. Students are prepared for higher education systems in France, Great Britain, Europe, the US and the rest of the world.
The school is a multi-cultural school, promoting understanding and enrichment through the integration of all nationalities (more than 20 different nationalities are represented). The school aims to go beyond the educational success of a child in building a responsible, curious individual keen to learn, and to integrate with others; and to be tolerant and flexible in an ever changing world.
Specially adapted teaching methods.
Kindergarten and primary classes are in part individual, so that every child can progress at his own pace. The school prides itself on the ability to adapt classes to different levels, allowing children of the same age to be together whilst working at their own tasks and at their own level and pace. This can be carried through into the secondary level for language and mathematics classes.

From Kindergarten to the French Baccalauréat, every child follows an individual education. Whether he is French or from abroad, the teaching is adapted to his pace and level.
